In accordance with the spirit of the "Notice of the Office of China Association for Science and Technology on Hosting the 9th National Youth Science Innovation Experiment and Works Competition" (Kexieban Hanpuzi [2022] No. 117), the Guangdong Provincial Association for Science and Technology and the Provincial Department of Education have decided to jointly host the Guangdong division of the 9th National Youth Science Innovation Experiment and Works Competition. The Student Affairs Department now announces the relevant matters as follows:
1. Eligibility
The competition is open to all undergraduate students of our university. Each team consists of participants and a supervising teacher. A team must have 2-4 participants (including at least one female participant) and one supervising teacher from the university.
2. Competition Project
Creative Works Project: This project focuses on discovering and solving real-world problems. The theme is "Smart Community", encouraging students to identify problems in the context of smart community construction, propose solutions, design system models, and create related works.
Project Theme: Smart Community
Group Category: University Group
Project Description: Set in the context of a smart community, students are encouraged to discover real-life issues related to home life, community services, etc., and use technologies such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things to create works that solve problems and achieve predetermined goals.
3. Requirements
Starting from the date of this notice, the project will enter the submission phase. Participating students must send Attachment 1 (Guangdong Division Registration Form for the 9th National Youth Science Innovation Experiment and Works Competition) to smbujiuyebu@sina.com by April 20, 2023, and complete their works by April 27, 2023.
4. Competition Schedule
The Guangdong division competition will consist of a preliminary round and a semi-final round.
Preliminary Round: Teams will submit their works (plans, design documents, videos, etc.) or conduct experiments. Depending on the actual situation, the review will be conducted either on-site or online. Based on the scores, teams will be selected to advance to the semi-finals.
Semi-Final Round: Teams will present their works, participate in on-site defenses, or conduct on-site experiments. Experts will review the works on-site or organize an on-site competition, and the top teams will be selected to advance to the national finals.
The schedule is as follows:
Preliminary and Semi-Final Rounds: The preliminary round will take place in early May 2023, during which experts will review the works and select the projects advancing to the semi-finals. The semi-final round will take place in late May 2023, during which an on-site competition will be organized, and the teams advancing to the finals will be selected.
Finals: From June to August 2023, the Provincial Association for Science and Technology Development Center will organize the selected teams to participate in the national finals.
5. Other Matters
For any other matters not covered in this notice, the Student Affairs Department reserves the right to interpret.
