To comprehensively enhance the English proficiency of students at Shenzhen MSU-BIT University and to stimulate their enthusiasm for learning English, the university's English Center co-organized the preliminary round of the 2024 National English Competition for College Students (NECCS) in Category C (for non-English major undergraduates). On April 21st, the preliminary round was held on campus, with 160 Chinese undergraduates participating. During the two-hour written exam, the students demonstrated their extensive English knowledge and solid language foundation, showcasing their individual talents and abilities. After a thorough and organized review of the exam papers, one student was selected for the National Category C First Prize and the Guangdong Regional Final, five students received the National Category C Second Prize, and eight students won the National Category C Third Prize. Ultimately, Zhao Xinyu, a student from the Fintech program (Class of 2023) in the Economics Department, represented our university in the Guangdong Regional Final and stood out among thousands of competitors, winning the prestigious Grand Prize. Additionally, five other students from the Economics Department received awards in this competition.

Participating students expressed that this competition was a rare opportunity for growth, allowing them to improve their language and thinking skills while also identifying their strengths and weaknesses.
